The International JUSTICE Coalition blog is a locus for the community of Tri-co students and alumae/i to share their perspectives, experiences, discoveries, struggles, and triumphs about their lives and projects dedicated to making a more just world; they occur both near and far from campus, within hearts and minds or among crowds.
Think that the time for your opinions has passed, or not yet ripened? Think again! Why hold ourselves hostage to designated times of reflection?—the imminence of graduation; a Posse Plus retreat; the crisis or conflict in the world that gets 15 minutes, or maybe 15 days, of attention; an anniversary?? We don’t want to only hear about Gaza when it’s being bombed, or Tibet when the Olympics are being held in Beijing, or racist police brutality unless someone is shot as Oscar Grant was in Oakland, California. Likewise, we don’t only want to hear about leaders, especially those who are of color, female, or from the “Global South”, when they are running for or elected to President of the United States or receive a Nobel Prize. These things occupy our thoughts in different proportions and proximities than their representation in many traditional forums shows.
So, please send us a submission today! We want your own message and ideas in your own formulation. Present to the reader not only your conclusions and opinions themselves but offer some of the process that led you to your point of view. This could mean an essay, opinion piece, poetry, notes and journal-type pieces, photo essays, audio, and video. Please submit to intljusticecoalition@gmail.com
The International JUSTICE Coalition (IJC) is an organization dedicated to raising awareness of global social issues. An integral and unique aspect of IJC is that it invites all individual students and clubs to initiate and lead informative events, both as part of our annual International JUSTICE Week as well as a series of lectures and discussions. We compile student projects and activities into a database for mutual benefit in the community. IJC bridges the diverse interests and experiences of Bryn Mawr students to foster a spirit of compassion and solidarity leading to proactive movement in our community.
